Fees and rebates associated with your psychology sessions
with Sellick psychology

Mental Health Treatment Plan

With a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will receive $141.85 rebate per session with a clinical psychologist and $96.65 with a registered psychologist, up to 10 sessions per calendar year. This includes sessions using telehealth.

Eating Disorder Management Plan

With a GP referral and Eating Disorder Management Plan, you will receive $141.85 rebate per session with a clinical psychologist and $96.65 with a registered psychologist, up to 40 sessions per calendar year. This includes sessions using telehealth. Reviews of this plan occur in increments of 10 with your GP and will require input from a psychiatrist or paediatrician at or before the 20th session. Eating Disorder Plans must be renewed every 12 months, and it involves other health professionals such as your dietitian, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.

Chronic Disease Management Plan

With a GP referral and Chronic Disease Management Plan, you will receive $60.35 rebate per session with a clinical or registered psychologist, up to 5 sessions per calendar year. This includes sessions using telehealth. Chronic Disease Management Plans require a diagnosis of a chronic condition. This plan may also be referred to as a GP Management Plan, Team Care Arrangement, or an Enhanced Primary Care Plan.

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends the standard consultation fee for 2024 -2025 to see a psychologist is $311.

When scheduling your GP appointment to obtain the initial referral, it is a good idea to request a longer appointment. This will allow your doctor time to complete the necessary paperwork. A longer appointment is also recommended for referral review appointments.  

Please check with your private health insurance provider to ascertain if you are eligible for a rebate for Psychology services. If you are receiving the Medicare rebate, you will be unable to use your health insurance rebate at the same time.
